2. Marvel at the picturesque Crystal Mosque

If you’re in for a unique and meaningful experience, try the Lang Tengah Turtle Watch where you can volunteer and protect nesting turtles on the island, and live in a jungle campsite near the Turtle Bay! Note: The volunteering fee for a week is USD 240 (~S$326).

Pulau Kapas has just as much to offer! Pulau Kapas is a mere twenty-minute ride off the mainland. Round-trip boat tickets are approximately RM 30 (~S$10) to RM 40 (~S$13) per person. Note that Pulau Kapas is inaccessible during the monsoon season between November and February – the best time to visit the island is between April and August.
Don’t expect fancy resorts or expensive restaurants in Pulau Kapas because here, it’s all about simplicity. Bask in the glistening clear waters and camp at the LongSha Campsite where you will meet like-minded budget travellers. Learn about the history of Terengganu at Kota Lama Duyong, a building located on Pulau Duyong Kecil. It was built in the 1920s by Dato’ Biji Sura’, a man who held prominent posts in the government and had good relations with the British. This building is emblematic of the traditional Malay architecture infused with British influence. The Kota Lama Duyong was later restored as a museum, which displays local artefacts detailing the history of Terengganu.
Tip: To get to Kota Lama Duyong, take a 10-minute “water taxi” or bot penambang ride from the Shahbandar Jetty. The first bot penambang ride is at 8.30am and the last is at 5.30pm. There is no service on Friday.

This Edutainment Park aims to educate visitors on world Islamic history and civilisation via audio, visual and interactive features. You can also hop on a river cruise which allows you to witness local kampongs along the Terengganu River.
